Over 90 Hours of Video Now Available Online

The Committee on House Administration has made a major move in the investigation of the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol by releasing approximately 90 hours of footage. This is just a fraction of the 44,000 hours of footage that is expected to be uploaded by Monday. The decision to make this video public comes after pressure from Republicans, including former President Donald Trump.

Millions of Americans Can Now See for Themselves

According to a statement by Committee Chairman Mike Johnson, the release of the footage will allow "millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media" to see what truly happened that day. Johnson also mentioned that individuals can request specific videos from the committee directly.

President Trump Praises the Release

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump congratulated Speaker of the House Mike Johnson for having the "courage and fortitude" to release all of the J6 tapes. Trump believes that the footage will "explicitly reveal what really happened on January 6th."

Accessing the Footage

The footage can be accessed on a public website, allowing anyone to view it. However, faces of private individuals have been blurred for privacy reasons. It's important to note that approximately five percent of the footage is being withheld due to security concerns about building security.

Tapes Previously Given to Tucker Carlson

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy had previously given the tapes to former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. However, Carlson was later fired from the network, raising questions about the handling of the footage.
