Burrito DNA Leads to Arrest

A biochemist named Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury has been caught by police after they used the DNA from a half-eaten burrito found at the scene of the crime to track him down. Roychowdhury had targeted the Wisconsin Family Action office in Madison, Wisconsin.

Plea Agreement Reduces Sentence

The arsonist was initially facing up to 20 years in prison, but has now accepted a plea agreement that will reduce his sentence.

Supreme Court Decision Sparks Protests

According to court documents, the incident occurred on May 8, 2022, just six days after news outlets reported that the U.S. Supreme Court was set to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide. This news sparked protests across the country, with two Catholic churches in Colorado being vandalized and an anti-abortion organization's office in Oregon being targeted with Molotov cocktails.

Details of the Arson

Roychowdhury broke a window at the Wisconsin Family Action office, threw two Molotov cocktails inside, set a bookcase on fire, and spray-painted the message, "If abortions aren't safe then you aren't either" on the front of the building.

Two Unidentified DNA Samples Found

Investigators discovered the DNA of two other individuals at the crime scene, but their identities have not yet been determined.

Attempted Escape Foiled

Roychowdhury was apprehended at Boston International Airport in March of this year while attempting to board a one-way flight to Guatemala.
